Fernández Cancio, Constantino

Exile, member of the Fronte Popular Antifascista Galego.

Emilio González López says about him: “a native of Ribadeo where he had a cinema, secretary of the Casa de Galicia, and who had a cousin, a graduate in Chemistry from the University of Santiago, who came to New York fleeing from Galicia and Portugal; in Galicia he was in hidding, first on a cornfield and then in a hut, where he received no more visits than an old woman who brought him food and a hen who came in through the door hole. He managed to escape to Portugal, from where he also had to flee because of his blond appearance they thought he was a German spy” (Castelao, propagandista da República en Norteamérica (2000)).
