Daughter of exiles in New York during the Spanish Civil War (father from Sada and mother from Vilaboa). Together with emigrants from Galicia and Asturias, his father founded a school called Juventudes Escolares, near Atlantic Avenue, where he taught Spanish and Galician dancing. She graduated from New York University with a Master’s degree in Bilingual Education (Brooklyn College), Gifted/Arts Education (Fordham University) and Administration and Supervision (Pace University).
